Winter Blues

Just because the weather is freezing or downright brutal doesn’t mean you can’t bring a little life to your winter wardrobe. Your biggest concern is probably looking like you forgot it was winter and you threw on your summer dress. But have no fear, cobalt blue will work with fall and winter too. The secret to rocking this gorgeous color in winter is to pair it with pieces that have depth, warmth in tones and darker shades. Shades like deep grey and black, are your very best allies in not looking like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and got dressed for a resort vacation.

Sama paired her fall and winter blues back to neutral layers and accessories that emphasize the fall and winter season. A large over-sized cable knit scarf layered with a neutral white blouse and a cute floppy hat, ground your cobalt blue smack dab in the middle of winter. On another point, no one likes freezing their buns off, but when your winter shorts are thinner than usual, tights are definitely a must to keep you warm.

Dana’s Outfit Details:

Zara Biker Leggings  |Top: International Concepts | Bata Boots

IMG_5260IMG_5259The secret to transitioning these high-waisted leggings  from formal to super casual is all in balancing the details of the leggings with softer and sleeker pieces on top. Dana paired this cobalt blouse back to these leggings because the shimmery material adds a feminine element but the fitted cut of the leggings keeps the look still feeling really cool and effortless.

The key to styling a maxi skirt casually is to not take yourself too seriously and to balance out a floor length skirt with more casual pieces. This maxi skirt can be transformed from day to night with just a few easy switch ups. For this outfit, I opted for a more casual look, so I threw on this double slit maxi skirt with my converse. The laid back style of the sweater and the converse make the maxi skirt feel less ball room and more casual cool. Attention to details, like choosing more casual knits or even pairing with pieces that are associated with casual dressing in general, can make all the difference in dressing your maxi skirt down for daytime!

Finally, if you can’t combat the winter blues, you may as well embrace them…literally 🙂
